Art Is...in the Community

Hot on the heels of our successful 2007 Let It All Hang Out for Breast Cancer for the Breast Form Fund and our 2008 doll drive for The Children's Home, we are branching out and sharing our art in various places.  We would so love you to join us at any of this opportunities:

Abigail House is the new house for girls at The Children's Home and is designed to support treatment programs, enabling the girls to expand & discover life skills while  benefiting from specialized areas such as spa, comfort and group therapy rooms.

In conjunction with the special screening of "Who Does She Think She Is", artists may submit a piece of artwork for a unique exhibition and fundraiser where 20% of the artwork sales will go to Abigail House and programs.  For more information and to participate in this unique exhibition contact us. Screening: Friday, October 9 - Open to the public

From this…..to this…..

Memory Boxes for  CHAM - Many of the Art Is...You family, have watched this little boy grow and blossom.  His health today is largely due to the commitment of the staff at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore, NY, Bronx.

We have been asked if we could make some memory boxes for families who's child passes away.

In partnership with Flatwoods Folkart, we are thrilled to be able to take on this project and aim to deliver a minimum of 50 boxes. Please register your interest with us today, and we will send you full details of how you can decorate a memory box and give a family something special to hold on to.

Wartburg Adult Care Community is a facility located in Mt Vernon, New York.  They have asked our Art Is...You family and friends to consider visiting and running some workshops throughout the year. This is a recent request and details are yet to be finalized. We would love to hear from our friends - offers of ideas, your time or supplies would all be wonderful.

Update will be provided in our August E-News

A note from Ellen and Sallianne

The philosophy of Art Is...You is, to create a moment in time where artists, whether they be faculty or students, can come together to share in their passion for creativity. In the last two years words of joy and, tears of happiness have been shared . Friendships have been forged and we have witnessed lives changing.  Our mission - to make this event as accessible as it can be to as many people as possible. No matter where an artist is, in their life, they are able to escape for a few hours, a day or an entire weekend.

In the words of one of our alumni:
I learned new media, new techniques, discovered new places in myself. I felt confident, self-assured. This never happens to me!

Please join us.
